Groom's Cake

The Royal Wedding watchers are abuzz with the news that Prince William will be having a Groom's Cake when he and Kate Middleton celebrate their wedding next month. Groom's Cakes are a fun addition to any wedding. They give the couple an easy to infuse some of the groom's personality into the day and to add a unique twist to an otherwise traditional day.

The notion of the Groom's Cake can be traced back to Victorian era England. They became popular in the United States quite a bit after that and were especially popular in the South, where they continue to be an important part of most wedding celebrations. Although traditionally made of dark chocolate with the addition of fruits and liquers, many Groom's Cakes today are all about personality and fun. Remember the armadillo Groom's Cake served at the wedding in the movie Steel Magnolias?

At most weddings, the Groom's Cake is not eaten during the reception. Instead, it is sliced, boxed up and given to guests (particularly the unmarried females) before they leave the party. Legend says that an unmarried woman who sleeps with a piece of Groom's Cake under her pillow will dream of the man she will marry that night.

The Doctor's In Wedding Invitations

The best thing about custom designed wedding invitations is the way they allow you to infuse a little (or a lot) of your personality into the special day. Take these wedding invitations - they're fun, beautiful and all about personality!

We created this fun little number for a couple who were both graduating from medical school. They came to us with the idea of a prescription pad invitation and we took it to the next level.

We created a medical monogram on the front "file folder" invitation, and assembled with file folder clips the medical file they professes their symptoms of being in love.

To complete the ensemble, we used a prescription pad rsvp. We had so much fun creating this invite and love when clients aren't afraid to think outside of the box.

Custom Design Spotlight ~ Gold Sunflowers & Swirls Wedding Invitations

These beautiful wedding invitations bring to mind the golden days of summer. Their gold sunflower theme is intricately carried throughout and the little flourishes make the invitations really stand out.

This beautiful wedding invitation is a light gold shimmering pocket with a front seal of the bride & groom's names with a sunflower. Inside, the theme is repated with a swirl.

The inserts were stacked inside the pocket, and rhinestones were added for some added sparkle.

Addressing Wedding Invitations ~ Ms. Miss or Mrs.

Addressing wedding invitations can be a dreaded task for many people. Aside from the time-consuming, finger-numbing process of handwriting many envelopes (if you choose to do it yourself), one of the biggest problems is figuring out how to write the names for certain guests. A typical conondrum is deciding which is most appropriate - Ms., Miss or Mrs.

Here is a handy reference guide from the etiquette expert-of-all-experts, Emily Post.

Maiden name

Ms. Jane Johnson
Miss Jane Johnson*
*usually 'Miss' is for girls under 18

Married, keeping maiden name

Ms. Jane Johnson

Married, uses husband's name socially

Mrs. John Kelly
Mrs. Jane Kelly*
*Nowadays this is acceptable
Ms. Jane Kelly

Separated, not divorced

Mrs. John Kelly
Mrs. Jane Kelly
Ms. Jane Kelly

Divorced

Mrs. Jane Kelly
Ms. Jane Kelly
Ms. Jane Johnson (maiden name)

Widowed

Mrs. John Kelly*
*If you don't know the widow's preference, this is the traditional and preferred form
Mrs. Jane Kelly
Ms. Jane Kelly

"Go For Baroque" Monogram Wedding Suite

This wedding suite takes you from pre-wedding information and invitations through the wedding reception. Beautifully embellished with attention paid to every last detail, this suite would be an awesome addition to any wedding!

We created this monogram style wedding invitation and matching table number, menu, and place cards for a photo shoot for Arizona Bridal Week. We really "went for Boroque" by using many embellishments including rhinestones, ribbons, and special folds.

We also lined the envelopes and printed the monogram on the outer envelopes. This monogram can be used on a variety of invitation styles and can be modified with your colors and specifications.
