Aside from the couple, the parents of both the bride and groom are one of the individuals that should be given special mention during a wedding. When we got married, we dedicated a part in our program to give honor and thanks to both our parents by presenting them with a special gift. Our gift is something symbolic and not even expensive. We gave them a personalized coin with the symbol of love engraved in it to show them how much we appreciate their love and effort to be the best parents to both of us.
Giving gifts to the parents of the bride and groom can be done either before, on or after the wedding. Here are some wedding gift ideas that can help couples choose the best gift for their parents and the parents of their partner:
• The couple can give something sentimental or symbolic. A caricature of the parents, a framed family tree or they can easily make a photo book containing pictures that brings back good memories.
• If the couple also has a writer’s talent, they can give something personal as their gift by writing a poem or a letter that tells some memorable moments and words of appreciation and gratitude for being good parents.
• The couple can also give something that their parents can actually use like a tea set, a bathrobe, a multi-purpose tool kit or any other items that reflect their parents' interests, and hobbies.
• The couple can also give something special like a vacation get away for both parents.
Wedding gifts that the couple will choose for parents don't have to be extravagant. What is important is that they will be able to convey their message for giving the gift, which is the couple’s appreciation for the love and support that their parents has given them.
