An Origami Wedding

I published a post a few days ago about wedding bridal bouquet alternatives. One of the suggested alternatives was a paper wedding bouquet and I thought that it is really one cool idea. Paper wedding bouquet is inexpensive, the petals won’t wilt, and the bride can even keep it as part of her wedding keepsake.

But the bride should not be limited to using paper or origami for her wedding bouquet only as there are a lot of paper art work that she can create that is suitable for weddings to create a unique, classy and affordable wedding items.

Here are some Origami craft ideas that you can use in your wedding:

1. Table centerpiece. You could make many small, identical origami shapes in one or many colors or patterns of paper and scatter them along the center of the table to create a great but inexpensive centerpiece.

The crane symbolizes longevity and good health and is therefore a perfect symbol for wedding. So you can create origami cranes and arrange it from one end of the table to the other as your table centerpiece.

Check this link for instructions on how to make origami cranes.

2. Party Favors. A paper crane balance on top of a champagne flute or origami lucky stars inside glass container can be a great DIY wedding favor.

Read the instructions here on how to create origami lucky stars.

3. Favor Boxes. You can create your own favor boxes using origami to cut down your expenses. You can create a box where you can put sweets, chocolates or candies for your wedding favor.

Check out the following diagrams to help you create your own masu box or magazine box as your favor boxes.

4. Place Cards. Create your own place cards by adorning a simple card board with origami art work such as a butterfly or a flower glued to the side of the place card for a perfect detailing.

You can check out Hans Birkeland's web site to get instructions on how to make place cards adorned with the origami models.

5. Grooms’s boutonniere. I saw this great DIY idea from My DIY Wedding Day website where the bride created a vintage boutonniere for her groom.

Origami has always been considered to be a very elegant art form so why not use it to create inexpensive but unique and classy art crafts for your wedding.
