Host A Half-Birthday Party

Children with birthdays during the summer months often miss out on the fun of having a big party with all of their classmates. One way to combat this is by hosting a half-birthday party instead. By its very nature, a half-birthday party lends itself to a campy theme that is sure to make for a memorable event.

Here are a few fun ideas for carrying out the half-birthday theme:

  • Serve a half cake. You can either cut a purchased cake in half or make one yourself.
  • Decorate only half the room. Use all of the decorations you would ordinarily, but arrange them in just half of the room.
  • Cut all of the food in half before serving.
  • Buy large paper plates and cut them in half for eating.
  • Create birthday invitations by cutting card stock in half diagonally. Write in all the pertinent party information.
  • Have the party start and end on the half hour instead of on the hour.

The possibilities for making a half-birthday party a success are limitless. A little creativity goes a long way. Have fun with all the options and create a party your birthday boy or girl will never forget!
